Titans want to get RB Chris Johnson more involved in passing game

Shonn Greene is a big reason why Titans running back Chris Johnson @ChrisJohnson28 is no longer considered a first-round fantasy pick. Of course, there are other reasons -- run forward! -- but the signing of Greene back in March means there is probably a low cap on the number of goal-line opportunities Johnson will see this year. But perhaps Johnson can make up those lost points in another area. As John Glennon of The Tennessean points out in his Titans running backs preview, the team wants the former 2,000-yard rusher to be a bigger factor in the passing game. Johnson caught a career-low 36 passes last season but averaged 48.5 catches in his first four years.

Fantasy Analysis:

The Titans have been talking about getting Johnson out in space and using his receiving skills since February. He may score just a handful of touchdowns, but that would be no different than the past two years in which he scored a combined total of 10. I think Johnson will end up with about 1,600-1,800 yards from scrimmage with six or seven touchdowns. Fantasy owners will take that from a player who is falling into the latter half of the second round.
