FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Two leading Democrats in the Florida Legislature say it's time to debate the stand-your-ground law following the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. State Sen. Chris Smith and Rep. Perry Thurston, contend Zimmerman's acquittal shows the 2005 law has deep problems.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The head of Florida's child welfare agency is stepping down. The sudden announcement today by Secretary David Wilkins comes after the Department of Children and Families has been under fire recently for a handful of child deaths. Miami's regional managing director Esther Jacobo will fill in as interim secretary.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Jacksonville teen is in big trouble after authorities say he traveled to the Middle East to train with terrorists. Federal prosecutors in Tampa say a grand jury has indicted 19-year-old Shelton Thomas Bell on charges of conspiring and attempting to provide material support to terrorists. He faces up to 15 years for each of the two charges.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The Orlando Magic have signed free agent big man Jason Maxiell, adding a veteran presence to an injury-depleted front court. General manager Rob Hennigan announced the signing today.
